The Pudding Club

Theatre trips

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, is a must for any theatre-lover. Booking in advance is usually necessary. www.rsc.org.uk (Opens in new window).

Race Meetings

Cheltenham, Warwick, Worcester and Stratford all have race courses, and frequent meetings, including evenings. Cheltenham Gold Cup Week is one of the foremost racing events in the country. Myrtle House provides the perfect base.

Towns and Villages

There are many interesting, historic and picturesque towns and villages to visit. Broadway, Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold and the Cotswolds villages are full of charm. Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, has many attractions. Worcester and Warwick boast long and interesting histories, and Cheltenham and Leamington Spa boast splendid Regency architecture. Further afield, but still within east travelling distance, are Gloucester, Bath and Oxford.

Castles and Stately Homes

Experience more than 1,000 years of history at Warwick Castle, or visit Ragley Hall, Coughton Court, Snowshill Manor and several others. All are worthy of a visit and host frequent events. Further afield lies Blenheim Palace, home to the Dukes of Marlborough and birthplace of Winston Churchill.

Museums and Collections

There are plenty of interesting museums and collections to visit. The Stratford-upon-Avon area has a variety of places to visit related to William Shakespeare, and also has a Butterfly farm and Teddybear museum. Worcester has the award-winning Commandery Civil War museum, whilst Gloucester hosts the National Waterways Museum and Opie Collection.

Gardens

The famous Hidcote Gardens are right on our doorstep, and there are many more within easy reach: Kiftsgate Court, Sezincote, Bourton House Garden, Hodges Barn, Mill Dene Gardens, Upton House Garden, Painswick Rococo Garden, Packwood House, Brook Cottage, Abbey House gardens, to name a few: there is also Batsford Park Arboretum and Westonbirt Arboretum.

There is good walking country around Myrtle House. Whether you are interested in a relaxing stroll in the countryside, or are used to more strenuous hiking, there are suitable walks starting right outside our door. We can assist with planning and advice, and a wide range of maps and guides are available.

Bicycling is one of the most pleasant ways to explore our surroundings, and there are a number of interesting cycle routes. We can help with planning and advice, and cycle hire is available.
